"I acquired the idea from the fable, The Ant and the Grasshopper. I painted the window to suggest light is entering the room and added the light reflection on the floor, which insinuates that the time of day is after sunrise. It seems that it's past time to get up, but the figure is still asleep. In contrast, I used the image of diligently-moving ants to remind myself that the world still goes around even when I'm being idle."

"L'idée de cette oeuvre me fut inspirée par la fable de la Cigale et la Fourmi. J'ai peint la fenêtre pour suggérer le fait que la lumière du soleil de midi, déjà haut dans le ciel, pénètre dans la chambre. Il est déjà tard et j'aurais dû être éveillée depuis bien longtemps...A cela s'oppose les fourmi, affairées avec diligence autour de moi, afin de me rappeler que le monde continue de tourner même lorsque je m'abandonne à la paresse."
