FRANÇAIS CI-APRÈS
While Daphne appears in various stories of the Greco-Roman mythology, she is mostly renowned for her metamorphosis into a laurel tree. Following a curse made by the god Cupid, son of Venus, on the god Apollo, Daphne became the unwilling object of his infatuation. She, on the contrary, had received a leaden-tipped arrow from Cupid, triggering her feeling of disgust toward Apollo.
Continuously chased her against her wishes, she eventually invoked her father, the river god Peneus, to help her just before being kissed by Apollo. Her father transformed her into a laurel tree, thus foiling her chaser.
_____
