"The River Within" is a performance in which the artist interprets the Ucayali river, an Amazonian river from Peru. The artist uses a fabric that recalls the drawings of the Shipibo culture. This type of pattern is visible on their fabrics and suggests the sinuosity of the river. By painting it onto her skin, Cecilia Paredes addresses the importance the locals give to the river. The Ucayali is a full-fledged part of their lives. Additionally, it is a tribute to women as the power of the community.

Le corps et la peau de l'artiste sont peints de motifs évoquant ceux de la culture Shipibo. Ce type de motif est présent sur les tissus et suggère l'aspect sinueux de la rivière.
