Alone on a Hill is a photographic reinterpretation of a traditional theme: a female nude in a natural environment. Standing on a field of tall wild grass, a woman is draped from the hips down the feet, her chest three-third turned aside as she lifts her right hand up, seemingly attaching her cloth onto her opposite shoulder. The omnipresence untamed nature that surrounds her may evoke XIXth century romantic paintings, while its evanescence recalls the sensuality of the pre-raphaelites. Farber’s talent resides in his capacity to brilliantly reinterpret a classic theme while infusing it with his own poetry.
