In this meticulously constructed digital collage, Ruud van Empel transforms a nocturnal desert landscape into a dreamlike stage. Towering cacti rise beneath a starlit sky, where a crescent moon and shooting star heighten the scene’s sense of stillness and wonder. Each plant is assembled from photographed fragments, giving the composition a hyperreal clarity while remaining subtly surreal. The work exemplifies van Empel’s signature approach, merging photography, collage, and painterly detail to create an artificial yet enchanting vision of nature that feels both familiar and otherworldly.

____
