Bas Meeuws, a Dutch photographer renowned for his contemporary interpretations of 17th-century Dutch floral still lifes, collaborated with the French fragrance house Diptyque to create the Impossible Bouquets collection. This series reimagines six of Diptyque's iconic floral fragrances—Do Son, Eau des Sens, Eau Mohéli, Eau Rose, L'Ombre dans l'Eau, and Olène—as vibrant digital floral compositions that transcend seasonality and botanical realism. Unlike his personal work, where the rich colors of the flowers and neutral backgrounds (in cream, grey, or black) guide the composition’s atmosphere, Meeuws approached the Diptyque pieces with a more restrained palette. Each bouquet is shaped by the dominant hue of the corresponding eau de toilette bottle, often featuring just a few tonal accents. "That contrast was also the challenge in working on the Diptyque collaboration," Meeuws explains, highlighting the deliberate shift in mood and visual balance required for this unique fusion of fragrance and fine art.
___
