"Although there is no direct connection between the image itself and the story, I got the idea for this piece from Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds as well as the Greek myth, Pandora’s box.
As an act of exploration, the character opens doors and windows, perhaps looking for something that she wants, which can be either an escape, or a path, or a way-out. However, before finding a good way for her, she has unlocked one of the doors and is unexpectedly met by a flock of birds. For me, large birds appear threatening, and the image of their feathers, beak, and curved talons is frightful. I applied these feelings to birds to express the many problems that arise surprisingly in my present life, the problems that I have to deal with, and various things I want to avoid but I have to confront in the process of going forward."

"Cette oeuvre me fut inspirée visuellement par "Les Oiseaux" d'Alfred Hitchcock ainsi que par le mythe Grec de la boîte de Pandore.
Piquée par la curiosité, le sujet a ouvert portes et fenêtres, probablement dans l'espoir d'y trouver une voie de sortie, un chemin, une issue. Cependant, juste après avant même d'avoir pu poursuivre son exploration, elle est repoussée par une volée d'oiseaux. Les grands volatiles revêtent un caractère menaçant à mes yeux: leurs plumes, becs et griffes acérées sont effroyables. Leur arrivée soudaine fait écho aux à l'avènement tout aussi inattendu de certains problèmes que j'ai pu rencontrer en essayant d'avancer. Il me faut néanmoins me confronter à ceux-ci afin de pouvoir aller de l'avant une fois qu'ils se seront envolés."
