Overview

Echo Fine Arts is pleased to present Flowers, a solo exhibition by Dutch photographer Bas Meeuws, on view at Un Moment Barnes in Mougins. Showcasing a dozen large-scale works, the exhibition brings together highlights from several of Meeuws’s series created over the past decade—including Holland, Royal Delft, Mughal Botanical, Hommage à Sanyu, and Diptyque—alongside brand-new pieces unveiled for the first time. Known for his floral still lifes, Meeuws draws inspiration from the Dutch Golden Age, reimagining the tradition through a contemporary lens with extraordinary precision and detail.

Often referred to as “impossible bouquets,” Meeuws’s compositions transcend the natural rhythm of the seasons by combining flowers that bloom at different times of the year into a single, timeless arrangement. Each image is the result of meticulous work, with every flower individually photographed and assembled to create harmonious yet fantastical wholes. With Flowers, Meeuws not only revives the symbolic richness of vanitas but also invites reflection on impermanence.

Opening: Friday, May 9th, 6pm - 8pm
