This Is Not Enough" is a reflection on emotional wounds, both those that have already accumulated and those that are still accumulating. The "room," which serves as the basic background in the Stage of Mind series, acts as a visual frame illustrating psychological landscapes. This space symbolizes the mind (mental state). I compared the mind/rooms to a beehive, a structure made up of nested cells, which represent the proliferation of mental states. I used the beehive as a metaphor for the various mental states that have accumulated, in order to express the wounds and pain that have built up within me.

The beehive is made from cardboard, and the cocoons from papier-mâché. Each hexagonal cell symbolizes a "cell" in the mind, which is why I painted them in skin tones, with reddish exteriors. The rooms that contain cocoons are filled with white fluffy material, resembling the act of staunching a bloody wound with cotton. These rooms represent a fragile emotional state, one where tears could come at any moment. The cells where larvae have already emerged represent the remnants of old wounds and slow recovery.

My intention was to reflect on the wounds, whether large or small, that we all accumulate over time. These wounds eventually form a deep, heart-rending pain, like a clot of grief, rather than being the result of a sudden shock. I also sought to embrace these wounds. Ultimately, through this piece, I wanted to show the relationship between the newly created cells, the swelling cocoons, and the cocoons that have already burst—symbolizing the increasing number of emotional wounds. The remnants of these wounds, their alleviation, and their continual rotation through new rooms (mental states) are also part of the process.
