Bas Meeuws' Mughal Botanicals series is a striking fusion of Dutch still-life tradition and Mughal ornamental art. Inspired by his travels through India in 2015, Meeuws was captivated by the floral motifs in Mughal manuscripts and architecture, particularly those found in the imperial albums of emperors Jahangir and Shah Jahan. These influences led him to create compositions that blend the meticulous realism of Dutch Golden Age flower paintings with the symmetry and ornamental aesthetics of Mughal art.
