FRANÇAIS CI-APRÈS:

Masked like a bandit, Boy’s striking appearance and bold stare have made him a global sensation. After days of travel, I arrived in Borneo, Indonesia, to photograph him at a local studio. Our translator, who works with the local community at Sahabat Kucing Jalanan (“Street Cat Friends”), introduced me to their efforts in helping street cats, including TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) programs and feeding initiatives. Behind-the-scenes footage from the shoot quickly went viral, amassing millions of views across Boy’s social platforms.

This “masked” social media sensation from Indonesia also invites reflection on the hidden lives cats lead. His distinctive facial marking—an accidental outcome of his genetic makeup—echoes the independence that defines feline existence alongside their bond with humans. The idea of the masked figure is deeply rooted in storytelling, where masks symbolize concealed identities. In this sense, Boy’s face becomes more than a viral image: it suggests that every cat carries an inner, private world known only to itself.
