FRANÇAIS AU-DESSOUS
"The cowgirl has long been reduced to two extremes—rugged worker or nostalgic symbol. Here, those boundaries dissolve. This figure exists between myth and modernity, blending Western heritage with fashion, autonomy, and self-invention.

Rendered in near-total shadow, she rejects traditional markers of Western femininity. A sharp, fashion-forward silhouette merges with the iconic cowboy hat, collapsing distinctions between ranch and runway, function and identity. She is not fixed, but fluid.

Continuing my exploration of noir lighting, the silhouette removes individual detail, shifting the focus from identity to archetype. The viewer engages not with a defined subject, but with a presence open to interpretation.

Symmetry reinforces her authority: centered, still, and monumental. Echoing portrait traditions while subverting them, the work proposes a new type—defined not by who she is, but by how she inhabits space, light, and cultural imagination."
