The Last of Their Kind II: Joachim Schmeisser
Echo Fine Arts is proud to present The Last of Their Kind II by Joachim Schmeisser, on view from July 18 to September 21 at Un Moment Barnes in Mougins. This new exhibition builds on the success of the original series, offering a deeper, more intimate look into Schmeisser’s visual narrative.
The show brings together a selection of platinum prints and monumental large-format portraits, portraying Africa’s endangered wildlife with rare closeness and emotional depth. These new works offer a fresh perspective on Schmeisser’s ongoing exploration of vulnerability and majesty in the animal world.
A recipient of the prestigious Hasselblad Masters Award, Schmeisser is known for his ability to capture more than just form; His portraits reveal the individuality and quiet strength of each creature. The Last of Their Kind is not only a tribute to species on the brink, but also a stark reminder of what’s at stake as the natural world faces mounting threats. Far from being just beautiful images, these photographs confront us with the consequences of human indifference. Schmeisser’s lens becomes a witness, preserving what may soon be lost and asking, in its stillness, how much longer we can afford to look away.
