On a Saturday afternoon in 1992, while speaking with a woman he had just met in a pub, the construction site they were standing in suddenly filled with a swirling mist. A vision began. A staircase appeared, and the woman’s deceased son walked down it and said directly to Chris, “Tell my mum to stop crying!” When the fog cleared, Chris heard a voice in his head say, like a needle on a record, over and over again: “Harrogate Spiritualist Church.” He put down his pint of beer and left immediately to find the church. At that moment, Chris began a new life as a Spiritualist medium.

Chris became a member of Harrogate Spiritualist Church. Shortly afterwards, a guest medium named Sandy Sinclair visited and gave a talk in which she described her séance room. Chris was fascinated, and Sandy became his mentor. In 1994, Chris joined Robin Foy’s Noah’s Ark Society, the English group formed to save physical mediumship from extinction. He was inspired by Foy’s notion of energy-based mediumship and soon began demonstrating as a physical medium.
