Photo London 2023

Art Fair

We are thrilled to exhibit in Photo London again!

Meet us at booth #G23 to discover our artists' latest artworks:

- QUOTIDIAN, by Jeff Robb

Quotidian Objects is a photographic exercise in recreating the essence of masters such as Van Weenix (1640-1719) and Jan van Huysum (1682 - 1749) in the medium of lenticular print. Robb enlisted the help of professional florists Augustus Bloom and Gail Smith - who creates floral arrangements for the National Gallery. Incorporating as many flower types as were available at the time (March) and using large scale prints of the original paintings as reference Robb set to work in the studio to recreate the majesty of the era in three dimensional photography.

- LITURGY OF LIGHT, by Jan Schlegel

"Two years ago I planted in my garden this tulip and totally forgot about it. This year it grew and and I caught my attention. The petals looked like a butterfly's wings, its fragility, shapes and the way the light reflected on it; I got fascinated. I took the flower into my little home studio and studied it for a long time before taking a picture of it with my 8x10' camera. Originally I only wanted one picture but I ended up with taking 15 over the next two days, also some in color. Looking at the negatives, I selected 6 and turned it into a little series.
First tests platinum test prints got me really excited. I wanted strong contrasts with a lot of energy in the shades like I usually do it with my portraiture works. For that I used a small soft-box. I also used a polarizing filter in front of the soft-box and the lens, which also created an emphasis on the structure by eliminating all reflections on the details.
The print is a handmade platinum print enriched with a lot of gold. The platinum gives the rich and deep blacks and the gold makes the highlights and midtones shine."

- Cecilia Paredes

Multidisciplinary artist in essence, Cecilia Paredes uses her body as a performative vessel merging painting, sculpture and photography. While she initially appears as the main subject in each of her "photo performance", her work explores a wide range of themes such as exile, integration, connection to nature, as well as biocentrism. Playing an active role in the narration, the background of her compositions is often made of patterns borrowed from tapestry or wallpapers filling the entire frame including her body. Her identity, hence camouflaged in the backdrop, is distilled to a quintessentially feminine shape inviting the viewer to ponder the ways in which individuals are informed by their natural and cultural environments. Additionally, the omnipresence of vegetal or animal design depicts an ideal world where humanity blends in rather than dominates.
