In the meantime, and to accompany the ongoing exhibition, we are pleased to launch an online reading room dedicated to the history of Spiritualist photography and Shannon Taggart’s twenty-year investigation into the subject.
Bringing together images, backstories, and research materials, the reading room explores the strange intersection between photography and Spiritualism — two nineteenth-century inventions that both claimed to reveal what lies beyond ordinary perception.
Organized into six thematic chapters, it traces the landscapes, rituals, bodies, artefacts, and technologies that shaped Spiritualist practice and its visual culture.
