Scrying is an ancient practice that uses a reflective surface—such as a crystal ball, bowl of water, or mirror—to seek visions of spirits or insights into the past, present, or future. The technique involves calming the mind into a relaxed, unfocused state while gazing steadily at the object’s surface. As the surface begins to cloud, it may give rise to vivid mental imagery.

At Arthur Findlay College, the renowned medium Helen Duncan’s crystal ball is displayed in the Britten Museum & Library. During a psychometry class exercise, we took turns holding the ball to explore what impressions or information we might receive about its history.

La scrying est une pratique ancienne qui utilise une surface réfléchissante—comme une boule de cristal, un bol d’eau ou un miroir—afin de tenter d’obtenir des visions d’esprits ou des informations sur le passé, le présent ou l’avenir. Cette technique consiste à apaiser l’esprit dans un état détendu et légèrement défocalisé tout en fixant la surface de l’objet. Lorsque celle-ci semble se troubler, elle peut faire émerger des images mentales.

À l’Arthur Findlay College, la célèbre boule de cristal du médium Helen Duncan est exposée au Britten Museum & Library. Lors d’un exercice de psychométrie en classe, nous avons pris chacun notre tour pour tenir la boule, afin de voir quelles impressions ou informations nous pouvions recevoir sur son histoire.
