FRANÇAIS CI-APRÈS
Today, lions only occur in parts of east, central, and south Africa, and in one small reserve in India—but not too long ago, they were found throughout much of Africa and in parts of Southwest Asia. The related cave lion had a distribution stretching from Britain to Siberia until 14,000 years ago. After they disappeared, African lions returned to southern Europe—Aristotle discussed their presence in Greece just 2000 years ago. Another related species, the American lion, once occupied much of North America, disappearing about the same time as the cave lion.
